Did you know that cancer is the #1 cause of death of children by disease in the U.S.? There are 40,000 U.S. children actively battling cancer right now. With less than 4% of the National Cancer Institute’s budget going to all childhood cancer combined, I knew it was important for me to get involved.

My friend, Julie of The Little Kitchen, has launched the first Annual Good Cookies Food Bloggers’ Valentine’s Event to help make a difference in the fight against pediatric cancer. We’ve spent a few years mailing cookies back and forth to our fellow food bloggers, but this year, we’re focusing on raising funds for the great people at Cookies for Kids’ Cancer!

Our goal is to raise at least $3,000. And guess what? These three amazing companies: Dixie Crystals, Land O’Lakes and Mediavine have each pledged to match our donations raised through this campaign up to $3000!!!

Currently, we have raised $1,515! We are a little over HALF WAY towards our $3000 goal, so will you help us with a donation today? Every little bit counts!

Donate here, then bake up a batch or two of these melt-in-your-mouth chocolate chip butter cookies! Trust me, you won’t regret it!

Chocolate Chip Butter Cookies

Yield: 2-3 dozen

  • 1 c unsalted butter
  • 1-1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp Kosher salt
  • 1 c Confectioners' sugar
  • 3/4 c mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c sprinkles or jimmies

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the vanilla extract and cool slightly. Whisk together the flour, salt and Confectioners' sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the butter mixture and mix well. Stir in the chocolate chips and sprinkles. The mixture will be crumbly, but will come together when pressed.

Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on an uncreased cookie sheet. Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass and bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, or until golden brown in color. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
