Now that I’m no longer eating for three, it’s definitely time to get back on the wagon… the healthy wagon, that is. I didn’t gain as much as you’d think, being pregnant with twins. In those first few weeks postpartum, I lost almost all of that baby weight. Hopefully, the last few pounds that are lingering around will fall off once I get back to running and eating like a normal person. Three meals a day sounds so lovely! But, with such a short timeframe to put any kind of meal together, it’s normally a sandwich here, a smoothie there, etc.
So, when Mockmill delivered their beautiful grain mill on my doorstep, I had so many ideas about what I wanted to do with it.
This gorgeous and compact mill has a true ceramic-bonded corundum stone, which produces very fine flour and will not wear down with continued use. It easily adjusts flour grades, so even a coarse flour is achievable. The outer design is sleek, smooth and so pretty, that a lot of cooks and bakers simply leave it docked on until it’s time to use another attachment. Which is perfect, because preparing the flour you need becomes a simple, quick action. And if you’re a new mommy like me, this is probably the greatest selling point. With two small babies, I can no longer run out to the store on a whim. If I’m out of a staple like flour, its wonderful to have the option to quickly make my own!
With this mill, I ground steel cut oats to a fine meal. You might think it odd, but the steel cut oat meal added just the right amount of texture and once blended with the yogurt, berries and juice, it completely filled me up. Which was great, because not long after I’d had my last sip, it was back to bottle washing and diaper changing!
