TWD: Baking With Julia – Chocolate Chip-Walnut Pumpkin Loaf

by Jessica on October 2, 2012

Bring on the pumpkin, baby. October is finally here and each time those first few days roll around, all recipes in my world start revolving around this precious gourd.

No cranberries in sight, though, and since I had just spent an hour at the grocery store, I wasn’t about to head out once more just to search for a little bag full of those tart berries. So instead, I subbed rich, dark chocolate chips. And really, what’s better than pumpkin plus walnuts and chocolate?

Rebecca at This Bountiful Backyard is our sweet hostess this week. Click over to her blog for the original recipe and for a list of bakers participating this go-round, check out the ‘Leave-Your-Link’ post on TWD!

Yours look great. I added the cranberries and they were too much. Chocolate chips sound much better,

This combination sounds delicious. Now I’m thinking I might need to try it with chopped white chocolate.

I like the idea of the chocolate chips, I am going to try that next time. Your bread looks much moister than mine. Blessings! Catherine http://www.praycookblog.com

Mmmm…I have to make pumpkin chocolate cookies this time every year. What a great idea to sub chocolate chips for the cranberries. Your loaf looks wonderful.

Jessica, such a moist looking walnut-chocolate loaf and very lovely pictures (I could not find fresh cranberries either).

Mmm, I was planning to do chocolate, too, instead of berries. I’m going to have to make mine on our make-up day in a couple weeks. But I DO plan to make it.
