French Fridays with Dorie – Asparagus & Bits of Bacon

I love asparagus. At one time (in my younger days), I was not so much of a fan. I’d turn my picky little nose up and refuse to eat anything green on my plate. I can remember the first time I tried okra (which was a force feeding, mind you)… but that’s a story for another day. Back to the veggie at hand.

Around here, we’ll have asparagus as often as we can… although, we never seem to prepare it in such a special way. Served alongside a smoked turkey breast, potatoes au gratin and a nice mixed salad, it felt like we were eating Easter dinner a few days early. It’s a simple and flavorful side dish that takes mere minutes to prepare. Beautiful AND delicious! 🙂

This was a perfect dish just before Easter and to usher in Spring 🙂 The green of the asparagus looks great with your blog!

Your asparagus looks delicious. There were many foods which I disliked as a child that I have learned to like since. Though, I have to admit that okra has remained firmly on my dislike list.

Wonderful pictures of today’ s FFwD dish. I particularly like the bright green color of the asparagus. And thank you also for your very nice comment…someone surely knows her “Spargel”. The asparagus harvest season is about to start, as you probably already know, and I cannot wait to get started on prparing all those “Spargel” dishes that we all love.

Really beautiful photos ! Nana and I both loved this one and she is making it again this weekend for our Easter feast. My 15 year old declared it his favorite Dorie recipe yet. Wow.

I love asparagus too. I don’t think I ever had it when I was a kid. My mom didn’t make many fresh veggies. Especially beautiful pictures this week! Happy Easter!
