Chocolate Kahlua Bread Pudding

Am I the only one that’s a bit weirded out by bread pudding? To me, bread shouldn’t be soggy. Or in pudding form. However, I was pretty surprised once I tried this. With one bite, I had a new favorite dessert. 🙂

I decided to change up this week’s recipe a bit. Since there was not a drop of bourbon in the house, I decided to go with a little Kahlua. And since everything’s better with chocolate, I added a little cocoa powder, too. But take it from Dorie: when she says that this is best enjoyed at room temperature the same day it’s baked, she means it. I left this in the fridge overnight and she’s right… the texture’s just not the same. It’s still really yummy, but definitely not as lovely as it is once out of the oven.

Oooh! I love this variation! I didn’t have any bourbon either, but I wish I had used my Kahlua like you did! Looks great!

Okay, I won’t lie to you as you won’t trust me ever again, so I will just say…this looks horrible. lol Seriously, bread pudding AND chocolate all in the same post??? How much did you think I could take of this??? lol I’m sure everyone else loves it. I love the recipe before this one! Does that count for anything?

I LOVE chocolate bread pudding. LOVE. I add some dried cherries that have been soaked in port or orange juice to mine sometimes. The one thing I don’t like is how the centers of the bread pieces never get fully soaked with the chocolate. It frustrates me. Yours looks good!

i could go for chocolate. I have found I just don’t care for bread pudding.

Hi Jessica, Love the way you experimented with this recipe. Kahlua sounds fantastic. Thinking I may try it myself but instead of chocolate in the pudding part, I may put fudge sauce over the top. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love Kahlua and chocolate together, so this sounds amazing. I usually make them into a creme caramel, but I may have to introduce bread into the mix after reading this!

Now that is one fantastic variation of Bread Pudding. I myself love bread pudding and this was no exception. That choco/kahlua looks very tasty.

I am so with you – bread definitely shouldn’t be soggy! I haven’t found a bread pudding recipe I like so I sat our this week, but now you have my wondering if maybe I’d have liked this one…

I love using kahlua, especially in tiramisu. I haven’t thought of putting in bread pudding. Sure going give it a try.
