I failed. Big time.
Within a span of two years, I’ve only had a few ‘Dorie Fails’… in fact, I can count the number on one hand. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed in the way these turned out. After following the directions to a T, I ended up having to add 2-3 tablespoons of milk for the dough to hold together (and even that was not enough!). I did take the advice on the P&Q, though, and added a bit of salt. The cookies were way beyond the meaning of “crumbly”, but I believe the salt helped the taste (the Nutella didn’t hurt either)!!
Maybe I’ll call them ‘Rustic Thumbprints’?
Mike of Ugly Food Dude has the recipe on his blog… and you can check out the other TWD bakers here!

Rustic is so hip these days. Rustic thumbprints are hip.
I’m sorry these didn’t work out for you, but they still look very tasty to me!
although these don t look so pretty they must taste awesome
Rustic is great! I love the idea of Nutella.
I really hate it when something like this happens. I don’t get it, why some people’s turned out great and others didn’t when we all followed the same recipe. Sigh! My dough wasn’t too dry and crumbly at all. ?? But you certainly can’t go wrong with Nutella!
Sorry to hear these weren’t a hit for you. They do look lovely though!
Your cookies look good! I bet nutella with them tasted delish! Thanks for dropping by my site and for welcoming me!
Bummer they didn’t work for ya..they look good and the filling looks tasty!
I really like that last shot of the cookies. Rustic thumbprints it is!
Well I think they look awesome. And you are my kind of gal for filling these with Nutella
There’s nothing wrong with rustic – especially when you add Nutella to the mix
They look delicious to me!
