Tuesdays With Dorie – Mrs. Vogel’s Scherben

I’m not much on frying things in my 20+ year old kitchen. One, I’m afraid of fires and two, I normally don’t get to bake until late at night (like last night, at 10:30p). So, I didn’t want to have a big mess in the kitchen to clean up at midnight before hitting the sack. Good thing I checked the P&Q this time. Caitlin came up with a freakin’ awesome way to bake these little babies… 10-12 minutes at 400 degrees. No mess, no fuss (and less fat, I’m sure!)!

They look tasty! I think that the most important thing is the powdered sugar coating. Who cares how they’re made as long as they’re covered in sugar?

I surely messed something up because mine were not as successful as everyone else. Yours look perfect!

All of you who baked rather than fried have me curious. May have to do another batch just so I can compare the two methods. Guys loved, loved, loved the fried ones. I admit it, I thought they were quite good as well. Yours look inviting and delicious, yep, may have to give that method a go.

I didn’t try these this week, but when I do, I think baking will be the way I choose to go. They look pretty good.

I’m with Kayte — I’ll have to try baking them. Although, the fried ones were easy and delicious, and didn’t creat a speck of guilt.

Good to hear that they were good baked. I really enjoyed them fried, but they were very addictive!
