Tuesdays With Dorie – Kugelhopf

by Jessica on November 11, 2008

With family friends coming over for dinner this past Sunday, I figured that this would be such a yummy little dessert. And, although I thought it was a major fail (due to the lack of rise I garnered), they all loved it… turning out to be much sweeter than I expected (after reading this week’s P&Q)!

Instead of the raisins Dorie called for, I subbed dark chocolate chips and walnuts. I’m so glad I did, too. It added the perfect amount of sweetness! And… Dorie’s suggestion of toasting it for breakfast did not disappoint! It was lovely the second day!! A big thanks goes to Yolanda of The All-Purpose Girl for this week’s selection!! 🙂

A girl after my own heart – chocolate! I should have looked at the P&Q’s before I made mine, because I thought it was very blah.

Looks great! I now know about Dorie’s love of raisins 😉 So I’ll be using chocolate if I ever make this one again!

Dark chocolate and walnuts.

I almost added nuts to mine, but was afraid with the weight of the nuts it wouldn’t raise very much.

Wow…who would not want to be a guest at your place? This looks delicious. I love the shape of it…and the little holes in the slices…just made to catch all that jam and butter after toasting, no? Very nice job!

Oh! Wish I’d added walnuts along with the chocolate chips. Good call.
